Capturing birds is one of the more challenging genres of photography. In working at expanding my skills, I set up a feeding place for the garden birds. It had to be near a place where I could set up my equipment without scaring them off. Once the birds are comfortable and enjoying their meal, my practice starts. And yes, I am still practicing!

It has been interesting observing the 'pecking order' that seems to exist amongst most garden birds. There are a few which will share, but most are ready to defend their feast, and of course the larger birds can dominate with ease. The birds are fast learners, and now when I'm late with the food, they will sit chirping and calling me!
