Abyssinian cat Fact File
Origins: The breed is named for Abyssinia (now called Ethiopia), where it is believed to have originated. Many geneticists believe it orginated in Southeast Asia and the coast of the Indian Ocean
Appearance: Medium size, lithe, triangular faces, large ears, long legs, short coat
Weight/Height: 2.8-3.5kg; 20-25cm
Coat Colours: "ticked" tabby coat. Sorrel, blue, chocolate, lilac, fawn and silver, and all of these colours can also be found in the silver variety.
Grooming: Brush regularly to remove loose hair.
Character/Temperament: Home loving, intelligent, loyal, devoted, lively, playful and 'talkative'.
Longevity/Health: 12-15 years. Familial renal amyloidosis, retinal degeneration possible.
