Origin: Developed in the Middle East, most notably Arabian peninsula
Characteristics: Finely chiseled bone structure, somewhat concave profile, arched neck, comparatively level croup, high-carried tail. Ability to form a cooperative relationship with humans, good-natured, quick to learn, willing and sensitive.
Weight/Height: 14.1 to 15.1 hands (57 to 61 inches, 145 to 155 cm)
Colors: Bay, grey, chestnut, black, and roan (rabicano/sabino). All Arabians, no matter their coat color, have black skin, except under white markings. Black skin provides protection from the intense desert sun
Activities: Endurance riding, hunter, jumper, sport horse under saddle, sport horse in hand, dressage, combined driving, trail, pleasure
Health: Lookout for Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, Lavender Foal Syndrome, Cerebellar abiotrophy, Occipital Atlanto-Axial Malformation, Equine juvenile epilepsy, Guttural Pouch Tympany
