Original Function: Hunting & Companion
Modern Function: Companion & Scent detection
Appearance: Solidly built, small hound with large eyes, hanging ears and a happy disposition.
Weight/Height: 33-41cm; 9-12kg
Coat Colours/Texture: Tricolour (white, black and tan or white, tan and yellow); Short, thick coat - hard texture. Sheds hair.
Grooming: Weekly brusing with soft bristle brush or hound glove. Bath only when necessary. Keep ears clean and nails short.
Character/Temperament: Calm, happy, cheerful, outgoing dog. Pack dog, cannot be left alone.
Compatibility with other animals/cats: Very good.
Compatibility with people/children: Excellent family dog..
Indoors/Outdoors: Family dog - indoors primarily, but enjoys outdoors for exercise.
Exercise/Training: Trains well. Needs moderate exercise. Not to be left offlead as they follow a scent and get lost. Escape artists.
Longevity/Health: Up to 15 years. Occur sometimes: Epilepsy, hypothyroidism, dwarfism, Musladin-Lueke Syndrome, ear infections, eye conditions, obesity
