Original Function: Escort and guard for horse-drawn vehicles.
Modern Function: Companion, mascot
Appearance: Regal bearing, large spotted dog, athletic, muscular and active, free from coarseness and lumber.
Weight/Height: 56-61cm; 16-32kg
Coat Colours/Texture:
White background with black or brown spots. Black-spotted dogs will always have black noses, and brown will always have brown. Coat short, sleek.
Grooming: Once a day with a bristle brush or hound glove will keep shedding to a minimum.
Character/Temperament: Outgoing and friendly, not shy or hesitant, free from nervousness and aggression.
Compatibility with other animals/cats: Good when socialized
Compatibility with people/children: Good, but may be too boisterous for young children. Wagging tail can hurt!
Indoors/Outdoors: Family dog - indoors primarily, but enjoys outdoors for exercise.
Exercise/Training: Intelligent, it responds well to training. Active and energetic, it needs a fair amount of exercise.
Longevity/Health: Up to 13 years. Occur sometimes: hipdysplasia, deafness, allergies, hyperuricemia,hyperuricemia,
bone spurs, arthritic conditions, auto-immune thyroiditis.
