Origin: Originate from wild asses of Africa and Asia. Also called Asses or Burros.
Characteristics: Typical of horse family with slender legs, hooves not cloven and narrow mane. Long ears and soulful eyes. Bones complete development only by 4 years of age, so should not be worked/ridden before that age. Large variety of type worldwide. Like company, stress when alone.Tough, stubborn but intelligent.
Weight/Height: Approx 60-168 cm. Up to about 250kg.
Colors: Shades of grey, black, brown often with lighter ring around eye and muzzle.
Activities: Companions, riding, carting, hauling in halter or carts, working fields.
Health: 25-50 years. Hyperlipidemia, obesity, regular hoof care necessary
