Maine Coon cat Fact File
Origins: The Maine Coon cat is considered the only longhair breed native to the United States - Maine, New England (USA).
Appearance: Medium to large, and males are larger than females. Heavily boned, muscular, head is large with tall ears. The profile shows a slight dip under the large eyes. The chest is broad, and the legs are thick.Coat heavy but silk.shaggy and long but shorter over the shoulders.
Weight/Height: 4-8kg; 25-40cm
Coat Colours: White, Black, Blue, Red, Cream, Brown, Silver, Tortoiseshell, Bluecream, Golden with pattern Solid Color, Tortoiseshell, Bicolor, Tricolor/Calico, Tabby, Smoke, Shaded
Grooming: Brush regularly to remove loose hair.
Character/Temperament: Laid-back and easy-going. Patient with children, other cats, and dogs. Like water. Good Hunters.
Longevity/Health: 9-13 years. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Spinal muscular atrophy, Hip Dysplasia
