Original Function: Companion, sled dog in Siberia.
Modern Function: Companion
Appearance: The graceful, medium-sized dog with almond-shaped eyes, a keen, friendly, mischievous expression.
Weight/Height: 51-60cm; 16-27kg
Coat Colours/Texture: Thick, offstanding, double coat. All ranges of the allowable colours which are black, grey, agouti, sable, red and white. May be solid coloured. May have multiple shades. May have white markings. A variety of symmetrical or asymmetrical markings and patterns are common, including piebald.
Grooming: Weekly brushing. During shedding time, daily brushing.
Character/Temperament: Friendly, gentle, intelligent, with an eager disposition make him an agreeable companion and willing worker.
Compatibility with other animals/cats: Needs to be socialized, high prey drive, will chase small animals
Compatibility with people/children: Good family dogs, may be a bit boisterous around small children.
Indoors/Outdoors: Family dog - indoors, but needs outdoors for exercise.
Exercise/Training: Responds well to training. Needs regular exercise, but will run on and on so needs to be leash controlled on walks.
Longevity/Health: Up to 15 years. Sometimes eye conditions, epilepsy, hip dysplasia, laryngeal paralysis
