Original Function:  Gundog (Germany)
Modern Function: Gundog, Showdog, Companion
Appearance: Nicknamed Silver Ghosts, Grey Ghosts, Weim. Aristsocratic, elegant, powerful. Eyes light amber, grey or blue-grey
Weight/Height:Maximum 63-71cm. Weight 24-38kg
Coat Colours/Texture:Coat: Shorthaired: smooth, and solid-colored, ranging from mouse-gray to silver-gray, usually with lighter shades on the head and ears. Longhaired: soft silky coat and feathering on tails and legs
Grooming:  Brush weekly to help with shedding hair. For coat shine, wipe down with a soft cloth. 
Character/Temperament: Friendly, fearless, alert, and obedient when trained. Also assertive, smart, restless, and willful so needs training!
Compatibility with other animals/cats: Weims have a very strong prey-drive and unless they grow up with small animals (and even then) will hunt and kill them.
Compatibility with people/children: Suspicious of strangers. Too boisterous at play for small children, but excellent with older children. Always supervise dogs and children together.
Indoors/Outdoors: Weimeraners are highly-strung. If left alone for too long, they may bark or become destructive. They are hunting dogs, they but don't like living outdoors. They want attention and to be close to humans.
Exercise/Training: Definitely need training - they are intelligent and independent so may be slow to obey.
Longevity/Health:11-13 years. Generally healthy. Watch for hip dysplasia, von Willebrand's disease, PRA.
